September and October Progress & News

I travelled much of September - South Africa and more of the same coming up for the rest of October - Barcelona.  Not complaining but it is my excuse reason for not doing a progress report at the end of September.  Given that I'll be away now for the rest of October and won't be sewing during that (other than my usual travelling handwork) I thought I'd combine the two months.

Here are my makes for September,

As a volunteer at Quilters Take Manhattan, I needed a piece of apparel made from QTM fabric (available from Spoonflower).  I made this Vendor Apron, I shared it with you back in my August news and now I've worn it for a day at the event there's a change I want to make to it ready for when I write it up as a pattern.

Did you hear I won QTM Quilt Match 2016?  It was fabulous fun and I'll share more about it in a blog post at some point but for now here's a pic of my with my winning quilt top.

The NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild made a quilt for the husband of one of our members - these are the two blocks I made for the quilt and if you'd like to make some yourself this is the link to the tute I wrote for the guild.

I squeezed in designing the first of 3 Sashiko patterns, I'll mention them a bit more in the October news next.

Now, here are my October makes.

There are 2 more Sashiko pattern designs I've finished - can't share them yet, they'll be available in the future as part of a Sashiko kit but that's all I can say for now.

Made a quilt top and it's currently on its way to Quilt Market to showcase some potential new fabrics.  Can't share that project either I'm afraid as it's all hush-hush until the designer's deal is done,

Wrote a couple of tutes, though not the one's I mentioned were in the pipeline back in August, they're still in the pipeline!

And there have been four, YES 4, blog hops and giveaways.  I'll mention the 2 October blog hops first as they're still current so if you hurry you can still take part:

- giveaway ends 10 am (EST), Saturday, 22 October (US residents only)

- giveaway ends 10 am (EST), Friday, 28 October (open internationally)

and the September blog hops were won by Lauren Gaube

and Sonya

There have been three issues of mbCD news.  Just in case you missed them here's the links so you can catch up:

If you'd like to subscribe and have future newsletters emailed directly to you, you can do so here - and, I'd love it if you'd let your friends know too :D

Projects in the pipeline for November include:
A quilt block blog hop with Benartex - that's all, I can hardly believe it.  Maybe I'll be able to clear some of those WIPs that have been hanging around for way too long.  Maybe not.  Things have a habit of cropping up at the last minute and keeping me busy!

Finally, it's time to take a look how my UFO/WIP List looked at the end of August;

and let's compare it with the end of September - those last 8 columns on the right are all finished work:
Completed - SeptemberAugustJulyJuneMayApril / March / February / January

and then the end of October

Can't get over how much I'm achieving though I'd like to move more of the WIP/UFOs to the completed side rather than adding newly completed projects.  I'm using the web app Trello, a digital notebook, you can read more about it here in my January Progress Report.

and here's my updated UFO/WIP list at end October 2016
I'll carry on including the list in this format too so you can click through to the blog posts and read more but I'll also include my Trello boards because these are such a great visual of my progress.
