For new readers visiting today from Windham Fabrics Snip-Its Blog, and for anyone else who doesn't know anything about me, hi, I'm Chris Dodsley owner of the made by ChrissieD brand, a sewing teacher in Manhattan and VP of the NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild, blogging about my textile crafts and travel adventures. That's how I introduce myself these days and then there's the bit about how I love to share my tips and tutorials and projects on my made by ChrissieD blog, twice monthly newsletter and various social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Flickr.
The photo above is what I look like - well, it's what I looked like a few years ago when my friend Ivete took a pic of me modelling one of her knitting patterns; it's my fave pic of me so I'm still using it :D
I'm delighted to be working today with Windham Fabrics for the first time on their Christmas in July 2016 Blog Hop and they've invited me to share a project with you using one of their Holiday collections, Craft Paper Christmas by Whistler Studios.

I love the traditional red and green Craft Paper Christmas colourways with a handcrafted Nordic feel to the text, stripe and cute Christmas images. Set alongside cream, black and craft paper 100% cotton neutrals, the ten fabrics in the collection are fabulous and I'm suddenly transported back to when we had our apartment in Stockholm, Sweden back at the start of the millennium!
The square and stripe prints are perfect for fussy cutting and I've used nine Fat Quarters (FQ) from the collection in my Craft Paper Christmas Zippered Pillows and I couldn't resist hand quilting the pillow covers to enhance the stitch lines that are part of the fabric design.
I'm delighted with them and excited to put them to use later this year.
Would you like to make your own Craft Paper Christmas zippered pillows? I'm sharing two tutorials with you today, in the first, I'll show you how to create the quilted pillow front and in the second I'll walk you through making the hidden zipper pillow back. In ten easy steps, my hidden zipper photo tute will take any fear you may have out of fitting zippers and I'm sure you'll refer back to it time and time again, not just for Christmas! Click the images below to go over to the tutes.

ReplyDeleteA favorite Christmas story is when my family all get together we play bingo to win small gifts. Everyone is excited about the portion of the evening. Back then our gatherings were smaller so we could have it at my home. Well I had bought some rolls of Christmas themed bathroom tissue as gifts and my uncle had won a couple of rolls. He was so tickled by this he had everyone cracking up. I really miss that he is no longer with us. The memories will last my lifetime.

My favorite Christmas story is of the year we were snowed in. We had Christmas Eve dinner with at our neighbors's home, then walked back to our house across their field, with snow up to my thighs. We could see our home up on its hill, all lit up, like a beacon, or a lighthouse. It was so beautiful and peaceful, just an incredibly memorable experience. Silent Night.
