Welcome to Day 1 of the Benartex Dreamscape Block Blog Hop.
Dreamscape fabric used for making the block along with the FQ bundle giveaway is supplied by Benartex for the purposes of the block hop and at no cost to mbCD, all other materials are my own. In all other respects, this post is for informational purposes only and no payment or commission is received on click-throughs to links shared.
I love a Benartex block blog hop - we can all take ideas and inspiration from the blocks shared each day on Benartex's Sew in Love {with Fabric} and I like seeing how the individual blocks can look made up into a table runner or quilt and also it's fun to pull them all together as a sampler quilt too.
For this block blog hop, we're sharing block tutes using the Benartex Dreamscape fabric collection
- 23 fabrics of saturated colour.
Benartex sent me this bundle of six Fat Quarters to work with.
Left to right below: lead and cloud have teal coloured mottling while navy, grape, lime and daffodil have depth created with more saturation of the same colour. The patterning is indeed dreamlike - the best way I can describe it is gothic and I love it. All fabrics in the collection are 100% cotton.
I took the photo below to show you more of the colour, mottling and design and to be clear, these aren't batiks - because I know you might be wondering given all the colour saturation, I thought the same myself when I opened the bundle and was pleasantly surprised to discover otherwise.
TRAPPED SQUARE BLOCK TUTE
The tute for my Trapped Square Block is available here on my blog.

I created the block originally several years ago for my NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild Bee, it's been incredibly popular and for a while, I've wanted to see how the block would look made up as a quilt - this was my opportunity.
TRAPPED SQUARE QUILT
The quilt is made up of 12 Trapped Square blocks with border and binding.
I also tried out this quilt colourway using all 6 of the Dreamscape fabrics in my bundle.
QUILT DESIGN - COLOUR AND FABRIC OPTIONS
I've created this post looking at Quilt Design - Colour and Fabric Options for the Trapped Square quilt and sharing tips for colour placement as well as sampling how the Trapped Square quilt can look using different fabric designs.
TRAPPED SQUARE QUILT PATTERN
COMING SOON
I'm currently writing up the pattern for the Trapped Square quilt and hope to be able to release it here on the blog very soon.
