I'm sharing the Simply Chic Satchel with you today. When I started making it I had a plan but wasn't sure how it would turn out but now it's finished I like it so much I want to turn it into a pattern for you.
Disclosure/Disclaimer:
Simply Chic fabric was supplied by Benartex at no cost to mbCD, all other materials are my own. In all other respects, this post is for informational purposes only and no payment or commission is received on click-throughs to links shared.
The satchel has only 1 visible turning seam and all the rest of the seams are hidden and that took some thinking through.
The main bag size is 12" tall by 10-1/2" wide and 4" deep with a front pocket covered by the popper fastening flap.
For this sample, I've used Anna Stuart's Simply Chic fabric collection for Benartex.
I've got ideas of how the satchel would look made in canvas or linens or even leather. Depending what fabric you use it would make a great man bag also.
The handle is wide and feels secure on your shoulder.
I was quite amazed when I realised just how much I could fit in the finished bag.
I've also designed a matching pencil case, there are more pics and the tute link here in this post.
I'll release a pattern once it's tested and finalised and that can take some time, especially with my upcoming travels but I'll be sure to let you know once it's available :D
These pics of Flicky modelling the satchel for me give you a better idea of its size.
So that's my Simply Chic Satchel - do you like it as much as I do?

ReplyDeleteWhat. Super cute satchel! Great choices of fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great size--roomy yet not gigantic. I like the wider straps, too.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics you chose! Cute little bag.

ReplyDeleteOH, I'd love to make one for myself and one for my daughter. I hope you'll have the pattern soon! Can't wait!
