Scrappy Rectangle Block [Technique]
The March Block Lotto for the NYC Metro Modern Quilters Guild is another scrap buster.
What's a Block Lotto?
You make any number of blocks of the designated design, hand over your blocks at the next guild meeting and you are given one entry in the raffle draw for each block you've made.

September and October Progress & News
I travelled much of September - South Africa and more of the same coming up for the rest of October - Barcelona. Not complaining but it is my excuse reason for not doing a progress report at the end of September. Given that I'll be away now for the rest of October and won't be sewing during that (other than my usual travelling handwork) I thought I'd combine the two months.

Quilt Match 2016 - Meet The Contenders
Announcing Quilt Match 2016 hosted by the Quilt Alliance at this year's annual Quilters Take Manhattan main event on Saturday, 24 September, at FIT, Manhattan.
Each year at QTM, Quilt Match brings together 3 contenders for the Featherweight Champ of the Quilt World title. Previous contenders include Luke Haynes, Heather Jones, Denyse Schmidt, Karla Overland, Laurie Russman and last year's winner Edyta Sitar. Quilt Match contenders have one hour to design and layout a quilt top - 'no patterns, no plans, no regrets'.
I expect you're wondering who this year's Quilt Match contenders will be; well, one of them is none other than me. I've been chosen to represent the NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild, and I can now share details of who my fellow contenders will be.

FPP Hearts & Strip Rainbows
It feels like forever since I had some sewing I could actually share with you and that doesn't need to be kept secret - the thing is I wish there was no reason for me to be making today's blocks at all. They're #QuiltsForPulse blocks; the quilting community led by the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild has come out in force to make quilts for those affected by the recent terrible events in Orlando, Florida.

Improv: Beyond The Bee - May 2016 (NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild)
Most of you know I'm a member of the NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild and from 2012-15 I was in our Guild's first Bee and I shared how I made each block with you here on this page. I've taken a year off from being in a Bee but when Guild members Jenny and Jessica announced they were starting a brand new Guild Bee I couldn't resist joining so today I'm introducing

Beginner's Guide To Sewing Y-Seams
Earlier this month at our March NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild meeting we introduced quick demos - 20-minute sessions with members teaching members techniques, tips, and tricks. An email requesting volunteers was sent out and our VP, Bernadette, requested someone demo Y-Seams, more specifically me!
