September and October Progress & News

I travelled much of September - South Africa and more of the same coming up for the rest of October - Barcelona.  Not complaining but it is my excuse reason for not doing a progress report at the end of September.  Given that I'll be away now for the rest of October and won't be sewing during that (other than my usual travelling handwork) I thought I'd combine the two months.

May 2016 Progress & News

May has been a funny month, I feel like I haven't achieved but as I'm typing this progress report I'm really surprised by how much I have actually done, I'm in conversations regarding Christmas in July Blog Hops and, as my daughter Flicky is home from Uni for the Summer, I've done numerous clothing repairs for her.  My biggest progress was in finally starting a twice-monthly newsletter - more of that in a bit.

April 2016 Progress & News

On the surface progress is slow again this month, I've been doing a lot of talking with fabric companies, working on a big plan for something I'll be able to share in the future (fingers crossed) and doing so much travelling I have no idea where I am or what time zone I'm in.

Progress has appeared slower this month - plenty going on but it feels like there's not a lot of sewing to show for it.

January 2016 Progress Update

Sharing my UFO/WIP list with you two weeks ago was quite shocking  - the shock for me, as I said, was the length of the list.  It's unclear what spurred me on most, the length of the list; accountability to my readers or the snow that kept me deep inside my warm apartment but whatever it was this has been my most productive 14 days in a very, very long time.

My 5 Step Plan To Clear My UFOs/WIP

In a bid to clear my workspace of UFOs/WIP I've come up with a 5 Step Plan.

A Finished UFO Or A Lost Mind?

Back in February 2013 I pattern tested this 7" foundation paper pieced heart for Juliet @The Tartankiwi (you can read about it here).

Of course, it's sat in my UFO pile ever since ... but no longer.  I ironed a piece of Pellon fusible fleece to the back of the heart and added a backing with a turned machine bound edge using the same fabulous Philip Jacobs Iris and Peony (Red) fabric that I've used for the heart centre on the front.  Yep those corners aren't perfectly mitred but at least it's finished and useable and I'm starting to think this could be a good mantra for me to live by - certainly if it's not something I'm selling!

I picked the fabric up on a trip to Liberty London - if you've never visited then take a look at the photos in my post here then put it on your Sewer's Bucket List.

Now it's an attractive table topper or wall hanging and could look equally good framed.

So one UFO's finished and unlike van Gogh I've even managed to keep my sanity I think - though my family might beg to differ ;D
