A Sly Old Fox - FPP: Pattern Testing For The Tartankiwi
Couldn't resist testing this Fox FPP pattern for Juliet @The Tartankiwi.
Although I'm not a fan of batiks I do love to use them whenever I'm depicting fur or hair in a piece - I feel it adds texture and movement.
My paper pieces, cut, joined and coloured. Can you spot the deliberate colouring mistake which fortunately I spotted before sewing that particular section? ;D
If you don't already have one, I highly recommend you invest in an Add A Quarter ruler by CM Designs - it's the best tool out there for all your FPP work (affiliate link).
I think he's gorgeous and I love that he's hiding in all those leaves.
Lots of pieces with this one but I just worked my way through each section and tried not to think about the whole thing - I also created three extra seams when I didn't have a wide enough piece of batik to fit.

A closer look at the eye and mouth detail.
I used a slightly darker orange batik around the eye and in front of the rear ear to create some shadowing and depth. The eye itself isn't a batik, instead, I used a lime green tone on tone.
And here's a left and right angle!!!
And a final look at the whole block.
Juliet's patterns are available now via her Etsy store and also her Payhip store.
