I made this hand tied flannel snuggly for Grandson Oliver to use in his pram or car seat and later maybe it can be a small comfort blankie.
Obviously, I'm in America and Oliver's in Spain but I wanted to give him something that's a little piece of our heritage, England.
Details:
Finished size 20 "x 20"
Red Flannel - Darcel Phillips for Robert Kaufman Nordica 12095
Sherpa Fleece
Binding - leftover piece of Peppered Cotton from my Even The Dog's Got Two quilt
Berisfords Ribbons - The Best Of British Art 13605 Soldiers and The Best Of British Art 13603
East of India Union Flag Ribbon (it's actually sold under my pet hate name 'Union Jack' >:( )
Red satin ribbon - in stash for more years than I can remember
20 x DMC Pearl Cotton 5 hand ties.
A few sneaky pics of the snuggly in use - and a little peep at Oliver!!!
Mum, Ana, with Auntie Katie holding Oliver.
The snuggly's the perfect match for Oliver's pram.
Oliver making good use of his snuggly already.
So the snuggly's a big hit, I think my middle son, Uncle Joe, would like one of his own - at 6' 3" absolute proof that you're never too grown up for a snuggly!!!

Adorable, both the baby and the little blankie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great snuggly! Oliver is beyond precious.
ReplyDeleteLucky Oliver - it looks super snuggly and he is gorgeous! Is that a little hand knit he is wearing? - it looks good too. Surely it was not that cold in Sevilla! xx
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a hand knit Lin, in fact it's the one I made for him and blogged about here. It really wasn't the best weather when we visited and rained practically every day for two weeks - quite unexpected really and I had a suitcase full of sundresses!!! - Chris :D
DeleteGorgeous! The snuggly is lovely too :)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet!
ReplyDeleteHe is just heart meltingly adorable! Beautiful blanket too (and it's definitely a flag not a jack!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice size! He can't grow out of it for a long time, even after it no longer covers him, he can still drag it around and cuddle with it.
ReplyDeleteOh Oliver is so beautiful! I love the snuggly blanket and not too difficult to make? X
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous blanket and a gorgeous little boy!!
ReplyDeleteI think we would all like a snuggly like this! It is a wonderful gift!!!

ReplyDeleteThe fleece make it look so cozy and snuggly! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteLovely baby and soft, cozy snuggly. I love it.
ReplyDeleteYes! There he is, and he's so sweet! Best of British, too!! And wearing Grandma's hand knitted jacket. The snuggly's a great match, well done. I like the idea of tying the quilt; I've never tried quilting fleece, but I imagine it would be a bit of a headache. Thank's for sharing the photos; they all look so happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Marly and how the prize goes to you for spotting Oli's wearing the jumper I made him - it's a bit big yet but one thing's for sure, he'll grow into it! - Chris :D
Deletelove the sherpa! great addition - soft and warm :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty ChrissieD... a little snuggly to cherish!
ReplyDeleteThat blanket looks very comfortable. And it's pretty too! I don't know what Sherpa Fleece is, but it makes me think of sheep wool, like the one we can find inside leather coats. Is it similar? Is it as warm as the sheep wool?
ReplyDeleteHi France, Sherpa Fleece is a polyester version of sheep's fleece, more usually used for pet beds and for lining coats. It's very warm and cuddly and, although I'm not in love with synthetic fabrics, has the advantage of being very easy to wash and dry frequently - Chris :D
DeleteThese are so sweet--the snuggly and the baby!
ReplyDeleteAw...Oliver is adorable. Making quilts - snugglies - for babies is the best!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so comfy! Great job! I'm stopping by from the Inspire Us Thursday linky party. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am living in London so I appreciate the British touch. He looks well snuggled in his blanket
ReplyDeleteLooks super cozy - I'm sure Oliver is loving it!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours. It definitely looks very snuggly.
ReplyDeleteI love these little blankets. I had a ton of them (something like them) when my girl was a baby. I wish we'd had the fluffy fleece, too.

ReplyDeleteMade me laugh Julia because my middle lad, Oli's uncle, is 6' 3" and as soon as he saw the snuggly he told me he wanted one!!! - Chris :D
