I'm about to start work on my February Skill Builder BOM, so I thought maybe I'd update you on my progress with the January blocks. They're all fmq'd now, and I think I'll just let the photos below speak for themselves:

Wow Chrissy, your FMQ is very very accomplished! Now I see why you need a chiropractor! Beautiful work and it's always lovely to see a back that's as gorgeous as the front x
ReplyDeleteThanks Gertie - I've done lots of it over the years as part of my textile art work but it feels quite different to me somehow when I'm doing it on a quilt - I think it's the thickness and weight of the quilt sandwich, the confines of a repeated pattern in a defined space, having to create a stitch quality that is usable rather than decorative and that the back is just as important as the front and will be visible. My Textile Art teacher used to tell me to have the machine going as fast as possible and move the fabric at my own speed but on the quilts I find the slower I go on the pedal as well as with my hands the better the quality of the stitches - it's quite different. :)
DeleteOooh - I love your FMQing, especially all the different styles you've used in your soundwave block. And it's all so eveb! The backing fabric is beautiful too, so vibrant. I'm a little bit behind on mine at the moment - better go and order the wadding - opps!
ReplyDeleteFinally I'd cleared the decks a bit and could catch up a little - hoping to start making the next 2 blocks today. You can't beat a bit of Kaffe Fassett to brighten any day can you?! :)
DeleteYay! You got it done and the quilting looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteYes, finally and thanks! :)
