Exploring Manhattan - Purl Soho & Friends

A couple of weeks ago I met up for the first time with Sarah Craig from Confessions Of A Fabric Addict when she was on a trip to Manhattan.  We spoken via the internet for several years, I love her blog and the charity quilt work she does is amazing.  I'm a regular at her Friday Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? linky party and it was great to finally meet in person.

I met up with another blogging quilty friend again this week too - Jess @QuiltyHabit.  She was in town on a flying day visit with her sister so the three of us had coffee in Bryant Park.

I digress... when I knew Sarah was going to be in town and interested in hitting the fabric stores I drew up a walking tour for her, meeting her at the lunch spot I recommended and joining her for her afternoon walk down to Purl Soho.

It would be churlish to drop into Purl Soho without taking yet more drool-worthy photos and I'd hate to disappoint so here they are - I concentrated on yarn more than fabric this visit but you'll soon get the picture and fabric lovers won't be totally disappointed ;D

  1. Wow, that is all I can say. There are so many beautiful things there. Can't imagine how long that visit was, with so much to see.

  2. You have such an eye for photography! I haven't yet made it to Purl Soho (it was out of our way yesterday) but it's on my NYC bucket list. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, and for meeting up with me! :)

  3. Thanks, Chrissie for the tour. I have ordered from them online, but have never been to the store. Looks like I need to get there... just for the eye candy alone!

  5. I'm just a tiny bit jealous! When I visited New York last year with a group of girlfriends we all nominated a "must do" and a "would like to do thing" and visiting this shop was my "would like to do' item. Sadly we just didn't manage to get to it, there was 7 of us and only 3 days - maybe next time!

  7. Wow what a shop, I could be in there for hours and that wool is beautiful, all that wool felt. I would be like a kid in a sweet shop and not know where to go first.

I have loads of friends online and would love to meet some of them someday, sadly distance can be a probelm and time. I am so pleased you met Sarah and had a fun day

  8. What a lot of lovely stuff. All those great colours, and I love those pieces of thick felt. I do feel that a lot of the people whose blogs I visit are friends, but not had the nerve to meet any as yet.

  9. I've admired this shop (from the other side of the Atlantic) for a long time, and I've used a lot of their free patterns too. Thank you for sharing this with us at The Really Crafty Link Party this week!
