Exploring New Jersey - Rock, Paper, Scissors

Closing Down - 25 February 2017
I'm sad to announce another quilt store closure - Rock, Paper Scissors closes its doors at close of day on 25 February 2017.  Store owner, Beth, explains the reasons in this blog post.

Here's a craft store I like to visit whenever we have a hire car and are heading out in that direction - Rock, Paper, Scissors.  Not an easy one for me to get to on public transport but it's only 30 minutes from my home by car.

The store's packed full of all the latest modern fabric collections - quilting weight cotton, voiles, flannels, sherpa fleece and more.

Even the restroom has a sewing theme which includes this gorgeous old Singer!

Wish I lived nearer and could join in the events going on in store and it's also the LQS for the North Jersey Modern Quilt Guild.

Love this giant Amy Butler 'Glow' flower.

They also stock pieces for making jewellery (Rock) and scrapbooking (Paper) though I've only taken pictures of the fabric side of the business (Scissors).

The store closed it's doors for good on 25 February 2017
Rock, Paper, Scissors is open daily at 15 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, New Jersey, tel: 973.337.6759.

For details of other fabric, yarn, trim and notion stores that I've visited around the world along with the NYC stores I love, exhibitions and events I've attended and wonderful people I've been lucky to meet click the links below or in my sidebar :D

  1. Oh I've been wanting to visit that store but have yet to have a chance to get down that way. Thanks for the peak and now I know that the stop will be well worth it.

  2. Try Aardvark in Morris Plains. It's right across from the railroad station on the Dover line. She has frequent sales and a large selection of beautiful fabrics.

  6. What a great fabric store! My LQSs are sewing machine stores that carry mainly dated fabric lines. I'm not sure who they cater to. They are not really traditional and they are definitely not modern.

    1. I'm so lucky having quite a number of great LQSs on my doorstep and more just beyond, I've visited a few of the sewing machine type stores and even vacuum stores that sell a little fabric on the side on my travels, makes me more grateful when I return home :D
