London 2012 Olympic Games

So very proud to be British - the opening ceremony to the London 2012 Olympic Games was spectacular - a big WOW to Danny Boyle for masterminding it all. Highlights - Industrial Revolution and Olympic rings, James Bond and the Queen, Beckham and Redgrave, lighting the Olympic Stadium torch ... simply FaBuLoUs :)

  1. Only 8:57 p.m. here in the desert SW. We're still watching it!

    1. Hi Dora, although I'm on the east coast, I stream in my English TV channels directly so I get to see it all as it happens. I'd wouldn't mind watching it all again though, enjoy :)

  2. What an awesome shot! I love this picture! Missed the opening ceremonies due to going to the airport dropping off K. going back to Hungary... :( I had a glimpse when the Queen came in while we were eating, but that's about it.

    1. Took this photo on Monday evening, it was a beautiful night and S, F and I had lots of fun walking along the Thames.

I stream my English TV channels directly so I watched the opening ceremony as it actually happened on the BBC, with no advert breaks and an 'essential info only' commentary. Maybe the style of NBC's late and advert interrupted coverage detracted from some people's enjoyment as I've read many poor US reviews/reactions today which is a shame :( .

    2. yes, I totally agree with you! What I also think is a shame that on the news they only talk about the US Olympians' achievements like no other countries are present at the Olympics... What the hell?! Would it be so hard to mention other countries too? It totally sucks...

    3. The BBC have 24 channels dedicated to the Olympics showing all rounds/heats of every event for each country - then there's catchup/replay for anything you've missed. Confirms for me just how amazing the BBC are :) We've been loving the gymnastics, cycling and equestrian so far and we've been following the fencing as there's a guy from F's school in the US team.
