My Favourite Slouchy Pattern

When I need a gift fast this is a pretty great go-to.
The free online pattern is the Reversible Bag by Novita @VeryPurplePerson

Fabrics:
Black Yarn Dyed Essex Linen
Park City (Orchid) from the Rustique Collection by Emily Herrick for Michael Miller Fabrics

I've hand stitched detail around the handles.

Thread:
Aurifil #2024 - White
DMC #5 - Black and Lime Green

Catch a look at my labels and my view!!!

Taking time to fussy cut the lining so the Park City fabric pattern is centred on the bag and the handles gives a great finish.

I've shared this pattern with you before - read about it here and here along with fabric info.

I'm struggling now to give this one away now!!!
Have you ever made something and then kept it for yourself?

  1. It's a great pattern Chris. A few years ago The Quilters Guild tombola for the FOQ was 'something you would like to receive' Having made a very pretty flying geese tissue box cover I decided that I was going to receive it and sent a cheque for the tombola instead! xx

  3. I thought I'd seen the bag before! The fabric combination is really striking - no wonder you want to keep it - yes I often feel the same and if something doesn't sell on Folksy I seem to develop a need for it somehow!

    1. I crazy love black dyed essex linen, it goes with everything and adds texture to any project. I've used it for several bags and quilts too :D

  15. This is great, I love the wide strap, I find the wider strap so much more comfortable than a thin strap. Thanks for sharing :)

    1. Let me know if you make it and what you think. I think it might be good layered with a thin cotton batting too to give it slightly more body, haven't tried it yet but might do one of these days :D
