My Sashiko Designs - Available Now

My Sashiko Designs by www.madebyChrissieD.com

Yay, I've done it, I've sewn up my Sashiko designs.

My Sashiko Designs
Last year, Susan Sato @EasyPiecing asked me to design some snowflakes that would work as Sashiko designs and that she could sell in kits in her Easy Piecing online/vending store.

Once the designs were made up into Sashiko samplers, Susan gave me one of each design for myself.

I finally got around to buying three wooden hoops to display them in and set about sewing them up.  The designs are printed with a continuous, water-soluble white line.  You can see how I've pressed them diagonally to find the centre ready for placing in the hoop.

Sewing them up with white or silver thread really does make them look like snowflakes but I want to display them all year round so I've sewn them up with Susan Spago's Eleganza embroidery threads that I picked up on this visit to Kathy Doughty's Material Obsession store in Sydney

I love how they look...

Using different colours of thread across the three designs is fun and variegated thread always adds interest.

When I'd finished sewing them, I sprayed them lightly with water to remove water-soluble sewing lines from the blue fabric.

And now they're up on the wall in my sewing studio.

It's exciting to see my designs made into kits, and such a thrill to see people buy them.
