Exploring Florida - The Quilt Place + Fabric...Fabric...Fabric, Rockledge
On my January trip to Florida, I also visited a couple of stores in Rockledge. First I visited The Quilt Place and then Fabric...Fabric...Fabric.
Let's start by getting our bearings. Rockledge is close to 4 hours' drive north of Miami up the east coast of Florida, 2-3 hours north of Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton and just under an hour's drive from Orlando. It's also 30 minutes from the Port Canaveral cruise stop.
THE QUILT PLACE
Is this a store? At 8,000 square feet, it felt more like a warehouse and is one of the largest quilt stores in Florida! The Quilt Place has over 14,000 bolts of fabric, organised mainly by colour as well as other sections such as seasonal, kids, Cotton + Steel, etc.
All photos were taken with permission from a member of staff at The Quilt Place.
Colour Aisles
just a few, there are many more too!
Cotton + Steel Wall
Seasonal
The Classroom
Books and Kits
The kits are boxed - make great gifts :D
Solids
Fat Quarters
Notions and Threads
The store also stocks: 1930's Repro; Asian; batiks; Civil War; flannel; tropical fabrics; and more that I've missed sharing here. To be honest, the sheer size of the store is pretty overwhelming on your first visit.
Here are a few more pics around the store.
I think you'd be hard pushed not to find the right colour fabric for your project here!!!
My purchases?
I picked up a yard of a Cotton + Steel fabric my daughter Flicky first used a few years ago to make cushions for her house in St Andrews, Scotland and then again to make her latest laptop case. We're running low now and it's such a great print so I've topped up the stash. And, I'm collecting white on white prints for a future project I have in my head so the other fabrics are various prints for that - I swear there really are prints on those white fabrics 😜
After visiting The Quilt Place, we took a 4-minute drive over to their sister store, Fabric...Fabric...Fabric.
Fabric...Fabric...Fabric
Fabric...Fabric...Fabric is a one-room store selling discount fabrics. The fabrics are well-known brand, quilting weight cotton, not seconds, all for sale at $7.95 or less, minimum cut is 1 yard. When I visited, they were having a sidewalk sale for $5/yard.
I stocked up on a few staple prints that will work well in my stash.
Tell me, have you visited The Quilt Place or Fabric...Fabric...Fabric?

I am fortunate to live about an hour's drive from The Quilt Place. It is an awesome store. And if you can't find it here, it probably hasn't been manufactured yet. Lovely ladies and so helpful.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a fabric store! You got out of it really cheap! I am going to keep that in the back of my mind if I ever get to FLorida! Thanks for all the great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI'm in California so I haven't been there BUT I am signed up for a BOM that I get every month from them. They are so nice and helpful. I would be very afraid to go there unless I've won the Lottery first. I'm afraid I would buy everything!! Great store, great people and I can happily recommend them ... even without being there in person!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat's a huge collection of fabric, thanks for showing us around!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a destination for quilters!!
ReplyDeleteThat is some quilt store! I have been making it a habit to visit quilt shops as I travel, and have come across some really nice ones - but this beats all that I've seen! Nice - I will have to add it to my list to visit for sure. ~smile~
