Sadly Gifting My Could You Live Here? Quilt

Could You Live Here? Quilt by www.madebyChrissieD.com

Yesterday I enjoyed goodbye drinks with my first and best friend since I moved to live in the States five years ago.

Wendy and I met when we were both in the Introduction to Patchwork by Machine class at The City Quilter in Manhattan.  I was a new arrival to the States and Wendy had been here a couple of years, originating from Australia.  We immediately became the best of friends and our families have been through many ups and downs together over the five years: green card applications; new jobs; house sales; apartment moves; puppy dog arrivals; big birthdays; health issues; Hurricane Irene; Superstorm Sandy; an earthquake; Flicky's graduation and leaving for college; loss of three parents; Wendy and Kim's wedding; and the birth of my grandson.  During this time Stateside, we have become family to each other.

Next week Wendy and Kim are moving back to Australia and I will miss them very much.  Simon, Flicky and I wish only wonderful things for their new future in their old homeland.

As a goodbye present, it felt very fitting to gift them one of my quilts - I knew just which one too - my Could You Live Here? Quilt.
I guess for them the answer is finally "no".

More quilt pics and details are here in my previous post from 2014 but today I added this label and passed it over to Wendy.

I want to take the opportunity to share a few photo memories of some of the times we've spent together to create an online history for the quilt that's greater than the label itself.

As you know Simon and I travel a lot for his work and we already know that we'll be at a conference in Sydney, Australia in November 2017 so we'll be extending our stay and travelling up the Gold Coast to catch up with our Aussie 'family' then.
