in sky blue, white, butter yellow, pink and red and is 100% cotton.
I've made two projects using six of the Simply Chic fabrics in the red/white/blue colour ways - a pencil case and a satchel.
BACK TO SCHOOL PENCIL CASE
The Back To School Pencil Case is wide enough to hold a 12" ruler and a notepad up to 5-5/8" wide alongside just about anything else you might need on your first day Back To School. It also has a separate zippered front pocket to hold your spare change and even your phone!
More Pics & Get The Tute
Take a look at more photos of the pencil case here on my blog then click over to the Benartex Sew in Love {with Fabric} blog where my detailed photo tute will guide you through making up the pencil case.
Helpful Tips For Making The Pencil Case
Over on the Benartex Sew in Love {with Fabric} blog I mention there are a couple of techniques I've written to help you fit and turn the pencil case lining, click the images below to access the two tutes :D
BACK TO SCHOOL SATCHEL
My second project is the Simply Chic Satchel, find out more about the satchel here on my blog.
And now for a giveaway - everyone loves a giveaway right?!
AND THE WINNER IS!!!
The winner of the Simply Chic FQ bundle is Apple Blossom who shared with us her favourite school memory is the girl scouts. I was a Brownie and a Girl Guide growing up in England and it was one of the best things about my school days too, so I can totally relate :D.
Many congratulations Apple Blossom, I've sent you an email asking for your snail mail address so be sure to check your junk folder if it isn't in your inbox. You'll have to let us know what you make with your new fabrics too :D

Simply Chic bundle is lovely! My favorite school memory is being in 1st grade and I thought Miss Doser, my teacher, was a magician! I came home to Mom one day and told her that Miss Doser made me into a reader! I was in awe of Miss Doser's powers, obviously!

ReplyDeleteSchool memory......Not getting away with anything because my mom was PTA President.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in elementary school I had a hard time learning the multiplication tables. A friend hid in a portable closet and used to tell me the answers. Unfortunately as a kid I did not know this would be a problem for me later in life since I actually have a math learning disability

ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, I can not give you an answer about my favorite memory in school. I was in a horrible car wreck at the age of 15 and permanent brain damage was done to the memory section of my brain wiping out all memories from the past. Plus, creating huge problems from that day to this day and for the remainder of my life. I am so thrilled to have been led to quilting; it has helped me in so many ways! Thank you for sharing and for the chance at this gorgeous fabric collection! Have a fantastic creative day!

Favorite school memory...hard to pick just one! It would have to be at Valentine's day in 4th or 5th grade, can't remember which one. We had to make our own Valentine box and I remember making mine to look like a swan, using hearts for the wings, feathers and head. I had a lot of fun cutting out all the different hearts and working with my mom to get it "just right." No one else had anything like mine, that's for sure!

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely fabric! And such a thorough tutorial--thank you. One of my favorite school memories is of our 4th grade teacher, Miss Firpo, who threw her whole heart into teaching her class, including reading the story "Pickle Chiffon Pie" and then creating that improbable creation. She was a marvel.

I always loved school. I wanted to go before I was old enough. I remember my mother telling me I could go to school when I was 5. I was SO disappointed when I woke up on my 5th birthday (in March) and found out that I had to wait until the next September to begin!
