Exploring Vancouver BC - The Cloth Shop

Time to share another fab store I visited during my trip to Vancouver, BC.  The Cloth Shop is a little gem in the Creekhouse building on Granville Island - Granville Island is a must-do for all crafty, food loving visitors.

The store is a treasure trove of fabric, books and notions.

Their Canadian and sea themed prints are a favourite with locals and tourists alike.

Every turn, nook, and cranny is another visual delight, bolts grouped by designer, theme, colour or finish and staged with quilts and items made from that grouping alongside the books, kits, and bundles; tempting you to easily make them your own.

Even the books and notions are displayed in corniced bookcases, there's a warm, inviting shabby chic feel to the store which is as welcoming as the staff .

Pinwheels, coin, and Irish chain quilts set off these Liberty Lawn fabrics perfectly

and they stock quilting weight cotton, flannel and more besides.

Isn't everything displayed beautifully?  And can you spot Arita and Stacey, my wonderful Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild lunch mates wearing hot pink and coral at the far wall of the store?  I'll be writing more about them in my third Vancouver blog post.

This overstuffed suitcase makes me want to pick it up and buy it as is, just scrumptious.

And what did I buy?  I've got a couple of projects in mind using flannel so I increased my stash with these cuties:

For full details of everything The Cloth Shop has in store and online you can visit their website here.  They're also on Instagram and Facebook.

The Cloth Shop
104-1551 Johnston Street, Granville Island, Vancouver, BC.

If you're visiting Vancouver I'd suggest you give yourself at least half a day to explore Granville Island and if you're a lover of handmade items and a foodie too then you'll probably be happy to spend a full day there exploring, there's so much to see.

This is my second post about my trip to Vancouver my first is about my visit to Three Bags Full  - if you love yarn you'll want to click through and have a read and my third is my Sea To Sky Highway Road Trip - Chris :D

For details of other fabric, yarn, trim and notion stores that I've visited around the world along with the NYC stores I love, exhibitions and events I've attended and wonderful people I've been lucky to meet click the links below or in my sidebar :D

  2. I wish I had known about this shop when I visited Vancouver a few years ago. An Aladdins cave of fabric goodies. I even spotted Janet Clare's Hearty Good Wishes in the window display. It looks like you are planning something for a small child The prints are fun.

    1. I love exploring all these stores while my husband's working and then sharing them with you, I feel like I get to know a place better than by just visiting the tourist spots. I'm feeling better than I was, my levels have stabilised again, hopefully for the long term this time, thanks so much for asking - Chris :D

  7. I love to visit quilt shops when I travel. I have even been known to drive 150 miles out of my way to visit a shop in Flagstaff AZ that was recommended by a friend, I will have to add this shop to my list in case I visit Vancouver again.
