Welcome to Day 1 of the Benartex Burlap Brights Block Hop, let me start with a great big "hi" to my regular readers and a huge welcome to anyone visiting for the first time from the Benartex blog Sew in Love {with Fabric}.
Benartex, a leading supplier of 100% designer cotton prints, asked me to design a block for them as part of their Burlap Brights Block Hop using, you guessed it, 6 of their 26 new Burlap Brights fabrics. The Block Hop continues over 11 days with a new block tute and giveaway each day - today's day 1 and, yay, it's my turn!!!
Here're the fabrics I was given to work with - 6 fat quarters of Solid Burlap Brights:
red; bright green; blue; orange; sun; and grape.
red; bright green; blue; orange; sun; and grape.
All that colour and tone on tone visual texture really lives up to the fabric's name 'Burlap Brights' and needs a fun block to showcase it so this is what I designed - introducing my On The Bright Side block.
If you'd like to make my On The Bright Side block click through to the Benartex blog Sew in Love {with Fabric} - my free tute is available there.

For ideas of how the block can look in multiples as a quilt and also for a tute on how to turn your single block into a pillow cushion with hidden zipper click the image below:
And now for a giveaway - everyone loves a giveaway right?!

If you want to know how to make my On The Bright Side block and another 10 great blocks too head over to the Benartex's Sew in Love with Fabric blog each day, including weekends, through to Thursday, 21 May 2015 to check out that day's tuteand for a fresh chance each day to win these 6 Burlap Bright fat quarters at each blog on the schedule.
Updated on Tuesday, 26 May 2015:
The winner of the 6 fq Burlap Brights bundle is #215 - Kathy Davis. Congrats Kathy, an email has been sent :D
And just for fun I've put together a Sampler Quilt image using all 11 blocks from the Block Hop - of course, it's one block short of the 12 you'd need so I've added the Block Hop logo in that space but you could repeat your favourite block from the hop here, maybe reversing the positive and negative colours.
